Gal on the Prowl - the one with the Grand Rebrand

Hi FURRocious Felines,

This week’s podcast episode kicked off Season 2 of Gal on the Prowl, and it felt like the perfect way to step into a new year, not with pressure or panic, but with curiosity, creativity, and a little (clay) play.

I sat down with Sarah Kaminsky, a yoga instructor and clay artist who is navigating a major life transition of her own. What unfolded wasn’t a conversation about “fixing” anything. Not a Midlife Crisis. A Life Reboot.

There used to be a narrative that if you started over in your 30s or 40s, something had gone wrong.

But what we’re seeing now, especially among women, is different.

Instead of impulsive decisions and quiet shame, there’s intention.

Instead of panic, there’s curiosity.

Instead of crisis… there’s a rebrand.

We talked about why so many women are pressing reset on purpose, and why that doesn’t mean you failed. It means you’re listening.

One of my favorite parts of the conversation was how Sarah described working with clay.

You start with a lump.

You apply pressure.

It wobbles.

Sometimes it collapses.

And then you reshape it.

Clay doesn’t care how many times you start over.

Neither should you!

That metaphor stuck with me because so many of us are walking around trying to look “finished” when we’re actually still becoming.

Why Play Isn’t Optional

Somewhere along the way, play got labeled as childish.

But here’s the truth:

Play is regulation.

Play is creativity.

Play is how we reconnect to ourselves when life feels uncertain.

For women navigating burnout, divorce, identity shifts, or “what now?” moments, play isn’t a luxury. It’s a lifeline.

You don’t need a five-year plan.

You might just need a yoga mat…or a lump of clay.

If you’re honest with yourself…

What part of your life is quietly asking to be reshaped right now?

No pressure to answer.

Just something to sit with.

January has started off bumpy (I feel like every 'new' year we realize it's not as easy as a calendar flip), but I'm extremely hopeful. Getting my 1099's sent out, sales taxes paid, tax prep, all things that make my eye twitch, but...adulting, better than kidding, right???

As always, thank you for being here, exactly as you are, mid-rebrand and all.

 Love & Purrs,

Jessica

Question: When was the last time you played just for fun?

A) This week

B) I honestly can’t remember
